Obituary of Lottie Thompson

Lottie B. Thompson was born to the late Hudie and Hannah Washington on December 20, 1935 in Williamsburg S.C. Lottie quietly slipped away Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Kirkhaven Nursing Home in which she lived for a year. Two brothers predecease Roosevelt and Herman Washington; a grandson Douglas D. Thompson III.

Lottie lived a vibrant life full of abundance. She attended Wilson Chapel School in King Street S.C. After school Lottie moved to Miami, Florida. There she met and wed Douglass D. Thompson on June 1958. From that union, they had 2 children Ava Sheree Thompson (Bell) and Douglas Thompson. During this time, Lottie was a manager of apartment housing.

She also was employed as a nurse. In 1958 Lottie moved from Miami, Florida to Rochester NY. She praised and worship at New Bethel CME church where her mother attended. Where our family attended later became a devoted member.

Lottie also further her education at night to become a lab technician. Which she accepted a position at Jordan Health Center. Later she then accepted a position as a accountant in the billing department until her retirement. Lottie enjoyed reading, bowling and gardening. Lottie loved life and she lived it to the fullest.

Lottie leaves behind everlasting love and memories to: Her husband Douglass D. Thompson Sr., daughter Ava S Bell (Husband Dennis Bell Sr); son: Douglass D. Thompson Jr; 2 granddaughters: Chanea Bell, Alexis Thompson; 2 grandsons: Darryl R Thompson and Dennis G. Bell; One great-granddaughter: Anyah Thompson; Two great grandsons: Jaylen D. Thompson, Shanden B. Bell; One brother: Hudie Washington; Seven Sisters: Maude Washington of Baltimore, M.D., Margaret Washington, Ludell Dailey, Millie Wilson, Marian Washington, Mary(Cliff) Bundick, Martha Washington of Kingstree, S. C. and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
