Leona Singletary was born November 2, 1938 in Lake City, South Carolina to the late Blease and Hattie Singletary. She graduated Carver Highschool in South Carolina. She met and married West Tisdale Jr. on August 23,1938. After they had their first daughter they relocated to Rochester, NY. They continued to add to their loving family with three more children. After arriving in Rochester she became a member of goodwill missionary Baptist church under the leadership of late Rev.Forbes. She was also a member of Pentetcostal Memorial Baptist Church under the leadership of late Rev. Forbes. She was a faithful member and her passion was singing and she started her children, niece,and nephews practicing in her basement and thats how the J.T. Gospel group singers began. She also loved to sew and made uniforms for the group. Leona was an awesome cook, she loved to laugh and have fun. She worked at Plymouth Rock until she decided to become a stay at home mom and take care of her children. She loved the Lord and was an excellent mother. She had a big heart and she would help anyone that needed help. Leona departed this life on July 28, 2023 She leaves to cherish her memories 3 daughters Betty Ann, Earlene, Dinah Marie & 1 son Kenneth. 3 grandchildren Lance Watson, Monique Ridgeway(James), Boris Session. 2 great grand children Jonathan Green & Sekani Ridgeway and a host of other friends and family members.
